LFEI offers NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training) courses as per the syllabus provided by the Government of India and ATP (Advanced Training Program) as per the syllabus prepared by extracting the needs of the Industry both in India and abroad.
The NCVT course is an ITI program that any ITI institute follows. At LFEI, six courses, all 2-year courses, viz., (1) RACT (Refrigeration & Air-conditioning Technician), (2) Fitter, (3) Electrician, (4) Electronics Mechanic, (5) Draughtsman Civil, (6) MMV (Mechanic Motor Vehicle) are conducted. The seventh course is a one-year Welding.
Our ITI curriculum seemed to be insufficient to fetch our trainees, suitable entry into the industry. There was a big gap between our courses and what the industry needed. This called for the revamping of the curriculum by introducing top-up courses in consultation with the manufacturing industry. Robotic Welding is one of the top-up courses; that also include MRAC with HVAC & R; Fitter with Piping and Structuring Engineering; Electrical with Industrial Electrician; Electronics with Instrumentation; Civil with CAD and Revit; and MMV with TATA on-the-job training. These additional courses make our students uniquely employable. They are now a keenly wanted lot by specialist industries.
The ATP concept emerged as a result of conducting Trade Tests for the interviewed candidates, aspiring employees of various national and international companies. When some of our NCVT students attended these tests, they were rejected by the employers due to lack of competence in the trade. Analyzing the results, we were able to establish the gap between the contents of NCVT program and what the Industry needs. To bridge the gap, we collected and formulated the missing components of the competence and named it ATP. This gap-bridging syllabus has enabled many of our students to enter into employment with ease.
We have (1) Advanced Welding, (2) HVAC & R – Heating, Ventilation, Air-conditioning & Refrigeration, (3) Piping and Structuring Engineer, (4) Industrial Electrician, (5) Sandblasting, (6) Instrumentation
Oil, Gas and the related industry constantly seek to recruit qualified Piping and Structural Engineers for their installations. The Diploma course is specially fabricated to suit the job requirements of these clients who recruit these trainees even before they complete their course. It is one of the most successful departments that boasts of 100% placement every year.
Mechanical Engineers and Diploma holders get an intensive 3 months’ training to repair and maintain heating, air-conditioning & refrigeration systems for homes and businesses. They become a problem-solver or a solution-finder, with persistent pursuit for success, emerging as the source of customer satisfaction wherever they are employed. They are trained on some of the best equipment available in the country, like, chiller plant, duct system, cold room, VRS Variable Refrigerant Flow System, package AC, etc. Placements in this department have generated a great demand for this course.
The Advanced Welding Course is completed in six months and the objective is to achieve X-Ray Quality, supported with Radiography tests of the Weld-Joints. The advanced welding laboratory is equipped with one of the best welding machines FastMig X 450, manufactured by KEMPPI, a Finland based company. Working on the most modern welding equipment will not make our trainees alien to such equipment found in companies, particularly, in the Gulf, but will enable easy and quick migration to any new modern workplace.
The Industrial Electrician program molds qualified skilled and job-ready apprentices for various industries in the application, installation, repair, and calibration & tuning of electrical equipment and control devices. This program emphasizes hands-on, practical training, using equipment typically encountered in the industry to enable them to acquire the specific knowledge and skills required to be successful in the industry. The trainees get to work in the substation, HT transformer, Grid-connected 60 KVAsolar power plant, Industrial wiring, etc.
Instrumentation engineers and technicians are in great demand in this age of automation, & innovation in various industries like, oil & gas, mining, manufacturing, and down-stream processing industries. This industry-focused programme, with intensive and practical look at all facets of industrial automation, instrumentation and process control, help upskill the trainees.
Sandblasting and Airless Spray Painting technique is used for surface restoration and preparation by using grit blasting techniques. It is in high demand in the steel and ship industry, both in India and abroad. Students practice their sandblasting and spray painting skills on the imported equipment which are normally used at work places, both in India and abroad. Such practical trainingassists the trainees to work like experienced technicians right from the outset.
