Humble beginning (1962)

The founder-patron, Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Attipetty, established a small workshop in South Kalamssery to impart technical training to the poor students, as part of the educational programme of ‘Ernakulam Social Service Society’ of the Archdiocese of Verapoly.

Rev. Fr. Jerome OCD was the director of ESSS and became the founding & organizing director of the workshop. Later, Rev. Fr. Antony Mappilassery took over as the working Director.

NCVT recognized it as an affiliated Institute (1965)

The workshop becomes an institute, called ‘Little Flower Engineering Institute (LFEI)’ with the approval of the NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training) Government of India. The institute started new courses – Fitter, Moulder and Pattern Maker trades.

New Block (1976)

Foundation Stone was laid for the new block of the Institute which was co-financed by The Netherlands Government, Archdioceses of Verapoly and CEBEMO-a service oriented voluntary organisation of Holland

Blessing of the new block & new courses (1977)

The new block was blessed by Dr. Joseph Kelanthara, the Archbishop of Verapoly.

The New Courese – Welder, Electronic Mechanic, Refrigeration & Air-conditioning – were added with the NCVT affiliation.

Ianuguration of the main building (1978)

Sri. A K Antony, The Hon.Chief Minister of Kerala, inaugurated the main building of the Institute,

Sri Oommen Chandy, Hon. Minister for Labour & Employment Inauguration of CCTV Video system in the presence of Sri. Baby John Minister for Revenue and Sri. M K Hemachandran Hon. Minister for Finance.

Production Unit(1995)

“LIFTRON” electronic production unit for manufacturing electronic Choke, UPS and CFL chokes, begins production at the institute.

Another Computer course (1998)

A Trust in the name of ‘LF Trust for Education and Technical Studies’ was registered to pursue excellence in their vision.

LF Trust (2000)

A Trust in the name of ‘LF Trust for Education and Technical Studies’ was registered to pursue excellence in their vision.

2003- Started non-formal course in Automobile and Automobile Service Station.

Advanced Welding course (2006)

Advanced Welding Course, specifically targeted at the Gulf-job-seeking-candidates was started and became a gate-way to the Gulf employment.

Trade Test Centre begins its operation (2007)

Trade Test Centre was started and become the centre, where most of the tests to recruit employees to the Gulf, was conducted.

Short-term job-oriented courses were also started along with the Trade Test Centre.

Logo redesigned for brand imaging LFEI (2009)

A re-designing of the institute’s logo and branding to reposition LFEI in a prominent and visual path on the NH-47 was mandatory. This was essentially followed by a re-construction of the main entrance gate. The outward appearance was enhanced with reasonable illumination.

Trade Test Centre – Upgradation (2009)

To meet the demands of the international interviewing clients, Trade Test Centre was refurbished with comfortable interviewing cabins, waiting area for the interviewees, comfort rooms, etc.

Hostel Area (2009)

Minor renovations and refurbishments were carried out to the hostel, with improved lighting and ventilations.

Centre of Excellence Award (2010)

LFEI was elevated to the title of Centre of Excellence by Skip, Bangalore. LFEI is the only and First Private ITI in Kerala to be awarded as Centre of Excellence recognition. The award was handed over to Patron of LFEI, Archbishop Francis Kallarakal by Mr. Bose Croos, General Secretary of SKIP at a colourful function conducted at LFEI auditorium on 18th February 2011. LFEI also received a Cash award of two lakh rupees from the SKIP.

Ongoing formation for priests of Archdiocese (2010)

LFEI became the first institution to host the on-going formation for the priests of the Archdiocese of Verpoly. An awareness seminar on cyber-crime was led by Mr. Francis Pereira, Head of Kochi Cyber Cell.

Sapphire Jubilee Year Celebrations (2010)

The Sapphire Jubilee Year Celebrations of LFEI came to an end on 18th February 2011. Archbishop Francis Kallarakal presided over the meeting. Msgr. Alex Vadakumthala, Mr. Bose Croos, General Secretary SKIP were some of the eminent guests at the function.

New Course: Diploma in Piping and Structural Engineering. (2010)

Considering the high demand for Piping and Structural trainees especially in Oil and Gas sector LFEI successfully introduced a new one year diploma course from the academic year 2011. The response to this new course was overwhelming and all the seats to the course were filled much before the commencement of the course.

Expansion of Welding Lab (2010)

The regular Trade Tests and interviews, conducted in the existing welding lab to recruit employees to the Gulf Countries,badly affected, the NCVT training programme and it was necessary to have a second welding lab. By refurbishment of the old engineering workshop a new welding lab was set-up with the capacity of operating 16 machines at a time, thereby the clients and trainees work together for trade tests and other welding programmes.

Installation of 180 KVA Generator Set (2010)

Our existing 40 KVA Generator was not sufficient to handle the high power demand of welding lab. The KSEB power failure especially during Welding Trade Test was a big problem. The installation of 180 KVA Genset has completely solved all power related issues.

Placement Cell (2010)

LFEI provided employment to over 500 students of short term and NCVT programmes, besides providing employment to the people of Kerala through various job interviews held at LFEI premises, directly or indirectly by the Gulf and the other international clients. Having the international interview at the LFEI premises has become a boon to LFEI students.

New Foot ball and Volleyball Court (2010)

Sports play very important role in shaping and maintaining healthy body and mind. To encourage the sports activities LFEI has levelled the underutilized existing ground and converted it to a Football and Volleyball courts.

Center of Excellence Award Second Phase (2010)

FEI received the Centre of Excellence award for the second time. SKIP expressed their satisfaction in LFEI performance and they gave a cash award of One Lakh Twenty thousand rupees for further improvement. This is a national level recognition.

Energy Conservation Club (2010)

Energy Conservation Club was started on July 20th with the co-operation of Governemt. of Kerala. An awareness programme on waste management and renewable energy was oraganised under the leadership of Energy Conservation Club.

Convocation of Diploma holders (2011)

Convocation of the first batch and inauguration of 2nd batch of piping & structural engineering wer conducted on 30th June. Meeting was inaugurated by Sri. K Babu, State minister for excise and presided by Msgr. Alex Vadakumthala.

Inauguration & Blessing of Smart Class and Digital Library(2012)

H.G. Archbishop Francis Kallarakkal blessed the Smart Boards in the class rooms that enables the teaching easy, interesting and enjoyable both for teachers and students. The new academic year saw the high-tech class rooms in the LFEI institute, for the first time in an ITI in India.

From the academic year 2012 onwards, Computerised Smart Boards are introduced to all class rooms. We are the pioneers in India to introduce smart boards in technical Institution. With the introduction of Smart Boards, teaching is no more a boring experience. Like a movie theater, students can now enjoy learning thanks to visual effects, animation, sound effect and interactive mode. It also makes revision of the previous class easier, as what ever written on the board can be recalled at any later stage. Smart Class and Digital Library were blessed by on 23rd August 2012. On this occasion MoU was signed between LFEI and Madonna Electronics for the development of electronics department.

Episcopal Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Patron (2012)

The Episcopal silver jubilee celebrations of our beloved Patron, H.G. Most Rev. Dr. Francis Kallarakkal was celebrated on 26th November 2012. It was purely an in-house programme. A colorful meeting was conducted at 11.30 am with all the staff, PTA members and students. In this function students and staff expressed their gratitude to the Archbishop for all the benefits they received through this Institution. As the patron of this Institution they presented gifts, mementos and bouquets to the Archbishop as the expression of their love and gratitude. An Agape was also conducted in honour of Patron.

Placement for NCVT Students(2012)

Reputed companies like Johnson Lift, SteelFab, Renaic, Synthite Industries Ltd, Sony Madonna, Hundustan Latex , OEN connectors etc conducted campus selection for NCVT students. Almost all students received their appointment letters even before their final year examinations.

Interviews & Trade Test for Foreign Placement (2012)

Little Flower Engineering Institute is now rated by the Middle East companies as the most favoured Trade Test centre in Kerala as well in South India. As a result almost all the authorized recruiting agents conduct their trade tests at Little Flower. This year 98 different agents from Kochi, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai conducted more than 300 interviews and trade tests for different companies of the Middle East, Kazakistan, Turkmenstan, Poland & Algeria.

Expansion of Welding Lab (2012)

As welding Trade Tests increased, the training programmes are badly affected adversely. As a solution to finding better service to all, the Welding Lab was expanded by adding 8 new Advanced Welding equipment, making it the best for any sort of Trade Tests.

Online Certification Verification (2012)

LFEI certificates and trade test certificates are much valued by all major companies around the world and in order to protect the authenticity of these certificates LFEI entered into a contract with Veritable Documentos Pvt. Ltd. for protection and verification.

Solar Power Plant (2012)

LFEI installed 2 kilo Watt solar power plant in the campus with the technical support of Life Way solar system. The whole installation work was done by LFEI trainees. More than the intention of saving power, it was installed with the purpose of providing additional training to the students, particularly, of the Electrician and Electronic trades.

New Constructions (2012)

LFEI started the construction of the 3rd floor on the main building to meet the requirement of the DGET for adding two new trades – Civil and Automobile –along with two labs for the Automobile trade. Total cost for the construction is expected to be more than 1 core rupees.

Advanced Technical Training Programme (2012)

One week advanced training programme was conducted for Refrigeration & Air-conditioning students by Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. The programme was formally inaugurated on 3rd Oct, 2013 by Mr. Joseph Stanley, General Secretary of SKIP, Bangalore. Keynote address was delivered by Mr. Gregory K Poulose, Asst. General Manager, Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. Company. They donated the latest fully Automatic Washing Machine and a Frost-Free Refrigerator for the training purpose.

Tie-Up Programme with TATA Motors (2012)

TATA Motors selected LFEI as their training partner in their “Earn and Learn Scheme”, a programme under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme.

Jesus Youth Prayer Group in Campus (2012)

This year the annual retreat was conducted by Jesus Youth Team, resulting in the formation of Jesus Youth Prayer Group in the campus. The team conducts prayer meetings twice in a week. The feedback from teachers is that it has made a very good impact on the students, transforming the difficult ones into exemplary students.

Confidence Building Programme (2012)

Special confidence building programme was conducted for all the staff and students. As the part of this training programme all the teachers and students walked over the broken pieces of glass on bare feet. This practical session was extremely useful for all the participants to boost their self confidence and improve their faith in mind power which is essential for success.

Junior Red Cross Unit (2013)

Two units of Junior Red Cross society was inaugurated on Nov 18, 2013. Prof. Poulose, HOD, Dept of Social Work, Rajagiri College of Social Science was the chief Guest and Mr. K V Bijoy, District Secretary for Red Cross Society, Ernakulam delivered an encouraging speech during the occasion.

Blessing and Inauguration of Automobile Trade and Civil Draughtsman Trade(2014)

His Grace, the Most Rev. Dr. Francis Kallarakkal, Metropolitan Archbisop of Verapoly and the Patron of Little Flower Engineering Institute blessed and inaugurated Automobile Trade and Civil Draughtsman Trade on August 29, 2014. The automobile lab is acclaimed as the best and most modern lab in the state with the installation of Computerized Brake Tester, Suspension Tester and Slip Tester, first in the state of Kerala. No educational institute, including engineering colleges, have this facility in Kerala. LFEI has Italian and American machineries such as 3D wheel Alignment, Wheel Balancer, MPFI Fault simulator, Ultra Sonic Injector Cleaner and Tester, On Board Designing Scanner etc.

ISO Accreditation(2014)

ISO team conducted an auditing in the Institute and approved LFEI as an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Institute from 4th July 2014. In this golden Jubilee year it is indeed a feather in LFEI’s cap.

Golder Jubilee year Celebration (2014)

The Golden Jubilee celebration of the Institute was inaugurated in a colourful function held on October11, 2014 at the LF campus. Sri Oomen Chandy, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala, inaugurated the Golden Jubilee celebration. His Grace, The Most Rev. Dr. Francis Kallarakal, presided over the meeting. Members of Legislative Assembly, Mr. Ibrahim Kunju, Mr. Benny Behnan, Mr. Hibi Eden, Kalamassery Municipality Chairman Sri. Jamal Manakkadan, General Secretary of SKIP Sri. Joseph Stanly, Sri. Shaji George and Mr.Victor Marakkassery spoke on the occasion. Priests, Nuns of different congregations, politicians, old staff, old students, students, parents, well-wishers and invited guests attended the meeting. The programme was well reported by all the press and visual media.

Advanced Technical Training Programme (2014)

Bajaj Electricals Ltd, as part of hteir CSR activity, conducted an advanced Technical Training for the students of Electrical, Electronics and Industrial Electrician students. The programme was inaugurated on Nov 19, 2014 by Mr. Bejoy Thomas, Deputy General Manager of Bajaj Electricals.

Participation in Shalom TV (2014)

LFEI students got a chance to participate in Shalom TV programme “Be Positive”. Three episode of the programme were recorded by Shalom TV crew exclusively with our students. It was a rare occasion of personality development too.

Yamaha Training School (2014)

Yamaha Motors agreed with LFEI to start “Little Flower Yamaha Training School” in the campus. MOU in this regard was signed on 29th October 2014. His Grace, the Most Rev. Dr. Francis Kallarakkal, blessed the lab on 19th January 2015. The official inauguration of the YTS will be conducted by 4th March 2015 by Mr. Masaki Asano, the Managing Director, Yamaha Motors India Sales Pvt. Ltd.

Yamaha Training School (2015)

The opening of new Scholastic year of YTS was held on June 25th 2015. Prof. K.V. Thomas M.P. inaugurated the academic year and gave the key note address. Mr. Anil Kumar, (Associate Vice President, Yamaha) Mr. Naveen Bhaskar, (Manager, Yamaha Technical Academy), Mr. Shivram Krishnan (TATA Motors) and Mr.Joseph Stanly(SKIP) attended the function.

Closing Ceremony of Golden Jubilee Celebration (2015)

The closing ceremony of Golden Jubilee Year was celebrated in a fitting manner with different programmes. It was mainly an in-house programme involving staff members, their family, present students, alumni and those directly connected with the institute. Following programmes were organized from September 28th 2015 to October 7th 2015. Finale of Golden Jubilee Celebrations and the Feast of St. Theresa of Lisieux, the patroness saint of the Institute were celebrated on 7th October 2015. His Grace Most Rev. Dr.Francis Kallarakkal was the main celebrant of the Holy Mass.

Advanced Technical Training Programme (2015)

A seminar on home appliances was conducted from April 27th to May 2nd 2015 by Godrej & Boyce Ltd. It was mainly for training students in the trades of Electronic Mechanic & MRAC. Godrej provided certificates to all the participants.

Seminar on AutoCAD (2015)

A seminar on Engineering Graphics using AutoCAD was conducted for all students on 4th June 2015 by CADD Centre.

Up gradation of NCVT Labs (2015)

Government enhanced the strength of in-take students in Electronic, Refrigeration, Welder and Civil trades. To accommodate the increased number of students, facility up-gradation was carried out in the respective labs and class rooms and modern equipment were purchased as per new syllabus.

New Chapel (2015)

A new chapel with serene and divine ambience was constructed on the first floor of the main building to enable the students and staff to spend time in meditation and prayer.

Hostel Extension (2015)

To meet the growing demand, new hostel block was constructed on the top of existing hostel building with modification renovation works to various sections of the hostel.

Nypuniya Skill Fiesta 2016 (2015)

Government enhanced the strength of in-take students in Electronic, Refrigeration, Welder and Civil trades. To accommodate the increased number of students, facility up-gradation was carried out in the respective labs and class rooms and modern equipment were purchased as per new syllabus.

Upgraded Internet Leased Line connection (2015)

The existing 2 Mbps Internet leased line was inadequate to meet the internet usage. It was upgraded to 4Mbps optical fiber leased line for the annual rent of one lakh sixty Thousand rupees.

Visit of High Level Delegation from Japan (2015)

LFEI received on 3rd December, 2015 a high level delegation from the Japan Government and the industry of Japan. The purpose of the visit was to find a solution for the problem Japanese industries face in India. They have great shortage of trained technicians in various Japanese industries in India. As the part of their study, they visited all the major training institutes pan India and Little Flower Engineering Institute was their last destination. Optical Fibre Internet Connection (2016)

Optical Fibre internet connection was upgraded to 40 Mbps to meet the growing demand of the internet usage by the students, staff and the Trade Test Centre client.

New course - HVAC& R (2016)

New job-oriented course in HVAC & R was started at the LFEI to train students for employment both in India and abroad.

it was a all India Tech Fest , Hosted by Little Flower Engineering Institute . around 2500 of studnets and public visited and 250 participants on various competitions.
